This Is Not a Test, the movie plot

Sloane Price (Olivia Holt) with a small group of classmates takes refuge in their high school, while their town is suddenly overwhelmed by a zombie apocalypse.

“This is not a test. Close all doors and cover all windows,” says the voice on the phone, while Sloan is locked in the high school, in the released trailer. Meanwhile, hordes of zombies invade the streets. “He’s not breathing,” says one of the students touching a friend, who then wakes up as a zombie.

“If we want to survive, we have to do things we wouldn’t have wanted to,” says a student. “This place is a coffin,” Sloane despairs.

Olivia Holt has acted in Heart Eyes and the slasher movie Totally Killer. The cast also includes Froy Gutierrez, recently seen in The Strangers: Chapter 1 and in the series I Love LA; Carson MacCormac has appeared in the horror adaptation Clown in a Cornfield and episodes of Overcompensating.

Luke MacFarlane has worked in the romantic comedy Bros and in Single All the Way, and stars in the series Platonic. The direction is by Adam MacDonald, who has previously directed Backcountry and episodes of Hell Motel and Slasher: the screenplay is an adaptation of Courtney Summers’ 2012 novel of the same name.

The production is by Anova Pictures, North Avenue Pictures and WorldOne Entertainment. Filming took place in February 2025 in Hamilton, Ontario. The movie releases in the United States on February 20, 2026.
