The Plot of Ride or Die

Ride or Die follows best friends Debbie Claybourne and Judith Burton, who believed they knew each other completely. The revelation that Judith is an international assassin upsets this balance. When a mysterious figure emerges from Judith's past and a murder goes wrong, both find themselves forced to flee together across Europe.

The series tells a race against time with law enforcement, trained assassins and dangerous criminals on their heels. The journey becomes an occasion to explore the secrets that the two women have kept hidden and to redefine the meaning of their friendship.

The Cast of the Prime Video Series

Octavia Spencer plays Debbie Claybourne, while Hannah Waddingham is Judith Burton. Bill Nighy appears in the role of The Director. Ed Skrein plays Billy Donovan, Sylvia Hoeks is Ana, Calam Lynch is Sam, Savannah Steyn plays Queenie and Jamie Parker is David. The cast also includes Kathryn Drysdale as Amanda, Fernando Santos as Diego and Jackie Ido as Jacques.

Spencer and Waddingham also hold the role of executive producers together with creator Tessa Coates, showrunner Matt Miller and director Peyton Reed.

The Production and Development

The series was created by Tessa Coates and has been in development since 2023. In February 2025 Matt Miller was announced as showrunner, while Peyton Reed directs the first two episodes. Filming began in February 2025 in Prague, Czech Republic, and concluded in June of the same year.

The production involves Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, together with Double Dream by Andy and Barbara Muschietti and Orit Entertainment by Octavia Spencer. Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, Irene Yeung, Ben Spencer, Brian Clisham and Stephanie Kluft appear among the executive producers. Paramount Television Studios assumed production in August 2025, after the merger of Skydance Media with Paramount Global.

When Ride or Die Comes Out

Ride or Die will debut on July 15, 2026 on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. All eight episodes will be available simultaneously. Prime Video released the official trailer and key art on June 8, 2026.

Octavia Spencer has recently worked on various movie and television productions, consolidating her presence in the American entertainment landscape. Hannah Waddingham, after success in comedy series, brings her experience to this action comedy. Bill Nighy continues his collaboration with international productions, while Ed Skrein has participated in action projects in recent years. Sylvia Hoeks has worked in European and American productions, expanding her international career.
