It seems to me that a film made in New York is different from one shot in Los Angeles, in its themes and settings. Do you agree?

I'm a native New Yorker, and I've had so many positive experiences filming on the streets of this colorful city. New York, largely because of it's diverse, visually interesting landscape, has traditionally been the home to smaller, independent films. Shooting on the streets of New York is a unique experience - the city provides an energy that is  unpredictable and captivating.  New York offers so many diverse neighborhoods and architecture -  that, for any artist, especially a filmmaker, is a real treat. We shot a scene from I'm Obsessed With You on the Highline, we filmed a couple of scenes in one of my favorite east village cafe's, "The Smile", and on the farms and beautiful beaches on the east end of Long Island.  We had access to unbelievable settings of all kinds. I will say that truly independent films, like I'm Obsessed With You, and many others (filmed in New York and elsewhere), should be supported and treasured because that's where free expression thrives. I do believe, very strongly, in making films for art's sake. Yet in an increasingly risk-averse economic climate, and with so many more films of all kinds being produced, there is a lot more noise, and so it is sadly very difficult to achieve. But I continue to be optimistic, and forge ahead!
