Drama film Union County: Drug Program starring Will Poulter, Noah Centineo - plot
Union County: Will Poulter and Noah Centineo Star in Addiction Recovery Drama
Union County Plot: Two Brothers in a Drug Recovery Program
Union County is the upcoming drama movie. Cody (Will Poulter) and Jack Parsons (Noah Centineo) are two brothers who enter a drug rehabilitation program after years of struggles, relapses, and uncertainties. The story is set in Ohio, a location hit hard by the opioid crisis: the two try to rebuild their lives with the help of a tireless counselor (Annette Deao).
"My name is Cody and I'm a drug addict," says Cody during a meeting in the community where he is located, in the released trailer. "I've been an opioid addict since I was sixteen, and I'm part of the adult recovery court program, so I'm here."
"There's no precise criterion, but going back to prison is always an option," says the community supervisor. "I didn't do anything, put the handcuffs on me..." he screams after an incident. "Cody, when you participate in this program, you have to follow the rules," says a friend.

Reviews and Release of Union County
The movie was presented at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, receiving positive reviews. For The Playlist "Union County offers something better than the Hollywood happy ending. It's honest. It's helpful. Perhaps, it's even a source of hope for those who are willing to face the uncomfortable reality of the disease, as Meeks and Poulter have done. A victory, even if temporary, is still a triumph."
For The Guardian "If Union County proves that Poulter deserves more challenging work and sheds light on the people within an extraordinary system, then it's worth choosing the docudrama over the drama. But I still would have liked to see more of the real people."
For The Hollywood Reporter "Although the main actors are excellent, the advantages of not making a documentary instead of this hybrid form, or of multiplying the movie's duration by ten, are debatable. That said, the sincere community vocation that animates Union County is undeniable." The movie is released in U.S. theaters on August 14, 2026.
