The best movies of 2025
The editorial staff of journalists from Mauxa and Dailybloid has chosen the best movies, TV series, books, and albums of 2025. For the movie section, first place goes to Francesca and Giovanni. A story of love and mafia: the plot starts in Palermo, in 1979, when the city is shaken by mafia attacks: Francesca Morvillo (Ester Pantano) is deputy prosecutor at the juvenile court, and is married to Giuseppe. She is called by the juvenile court to follow a parricide case, since Dino - a fifteen-year-old boy - killed his father in front of his mother. She remains faithful to her values and fights against a backward judicial system, which only wants to punish minors instead of educating them. When her professional career seems in crisis, Francesca meets the magistrate Giovanni Falcone (Primo Reggiani). The two fall in love, and - after the initial romance - their lives must endure the reality of their professions that undermine everyday life. The direction is by Simona Izzo and Ricky Tognazzi.
In second place is Steve, with Cillian Murphy and Jay Lycurgo, directed by Tim Mielants: principal Steve fights for the survival of his reform school while managing his own mental health.
In third place is Die, My Love with Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, directed by Lynne Ramsay: in a house near the forest live animals such as deer, owls, and birds, and here moves a young couple from New York, Grace and Jackson. While adapting to the new environment and becoming parents, Grace begins to struggle with feelings of isolation and psychological discomfort.
The best TV series of 2025
For TV series, the best is The Night Agent: at the center of the plot of the second season is the Foxglove project, a secret CIA operation - a program, now discontinued, aimed at the development of chemical weapons and their antidotes, including the lethal substance KX. General Viktor Bala, played by Dikran Tulaine, imprisoned for war crimes related to the use of KX, uses intermediary Jacob Monroe to obtain evidence of American involvement in the Foxglove Project. The cast includes Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan.
In second place is Professor T, in its fourth season: the British crime TV series features Ben Miller as Professor Jasper Tempest, a brilliant criminologist at the University of Cambridge, suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder.
In third place is Astrid and Raphaëlle (read the interview), now in its sixth season. The series, set in Paris, features Raphaëlle Coste, police commander, and Astrid Nielsen, young criminologist with Asperger syndrome, dealing with complicated cases to investigate. The cast also includes Timi-Joy Marbot as Raphaëlle’s son, Husky Kihal as Dr. Henry Fournier, the medical examiner, and Aliocha Itovich as Angus Nielsen, Astrid’s father.

In second place is The Secret of Secrets - The Last Secret, by Dan Brown: the American author brings back his famous protagonist, Robert Langdon, professor of symbology at Harvard. The story opens in Prague, where Langdon accompanies his partner, scientist Katherine Solomon, to a conference where she presents a revolutionary discovery in the field of human consciousness.
