Furious TV Series: Emmy Rossum Hunts Serial Killer in New FBI Thriller
Emmy Rossum stars in Furious: psychological thriller on Disney+ from July 27 with serial killer hunt
The FBI Agent and the Serial Killer: A Mirror Game
From July 27, 2026, Disney+ presents Furious, a drama series that explores the fragile boundary between justice and revenge. FBI agent Alice Black, portrayed by Emmy Rossum, conducts an investigation into a serial killer who operates with method and coldness. The narrative premise develops on a double track: two women, two paths toward what they consider justice, two visions of the world destined to collide.
Elizabeth Meriwether, creator of the series, constructs a structure in which the hunter and the prey share more than they would like to admit. When their existences intertwine, the distinction between good and evil loses sharpness. This is not the classic manhunt, but a psychological confrontation where both protagonists claim their own moral legitimacy.
The Cast and Production: Established Names for an Auteur Thriller
Alongside Emmy Rossum, the cast includes Lola Petticrew, Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Jake Lacy. The production sees Rossum also in the role of executive producer for Composition 8, flanked by Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman. Brian Kirk directed and produced the first two episodes, defining the visual tone of the series.
The production is by 20th Television and Searchlight Television. The series debuts with three episodes on July 27 on Disney+ for the international market and on Hulu in the United States, with new episodes released weekly.
Emmy Rossum: From Musical to Psychological Thriller
Emmy Rossum has built a career that crosses different genres. After the success in Shameless, where she portrayed Fiona Gallagher for eleven seasons, the actress has explored more complex roles. Recently she appeared in Angelyne, a Peacock miniseries from 2022 where she brought to life the enigmatic figure of the Los Angeles pop icon. In The Crowded Room (2023), an Apple TV+ series with Tom Holland, Rossum portrayed Candy Sullivan, mother of the protagonist in a psychological drama set in the Seventies.
Lola Petticrew, who presumably portrays the serial killer, acted in A Bump Along the Way (2019) and in the series Bloodlands (2021-2022). Scoot McNairy, a constant presence in American independent cinema, appeared in Narcos: Mexico and in the movie C'mon C'mon (2021) by Mike Mills. Jake Lacy, known for The White Lotus, recently worked in A Friend of the Family (2022), a Peacock miniseries about the Broberg case.
