The Map of Longing: The Netflix Series Based on Alice Kellen's Novel
The Map of Longing arrives on Netflix July 17, 2026: Spanish series cast, plot and release details
The Map of Longing is the miniseries that adapts the novel of the same name by Spanish writer Alice Kellen, published by Editorial Planeta. The series will arrive on Netflix on July 17, 2026.
The Plot of The Map of Longing: Greta and the Journey Beyond Grief
The series tells the story of Greta, played by Alícia Falcó, born with a precise purpose: to save her sister Lucy, sick with leukemia, through her stem cells. When Lucy dies, Greta finds herself in a deep existential void. Before leaving, however, Lucy creates "The Map of Longing," a game that challenges her sister to face grief and discover her own path.
On this journey, Greta meets Will, an enigmatic young man with a tormented past, played by Pablo Álvarez. The question that runs through the narrative is: can one love someone without loving oneself?
If the story were not about two sisters bound by an illness and a deep bond, it would simply be the tale of a girl trying to rebuild her own identity after a loss.
