Song Sung Blue, the plot of the movie
Song Sung Blue is the upcoming drama and musical movie. Lightning and Thunder are a married couple from Milwaukee, and they pay tribute to Neil Diamond’s songs: the two, Mike Sardina (Hugh Jackman) and Claire Sardina (Kate Hudson) experience tremendous success and moments of deep suffering in their musical journey together. “I’m not a songwriter, I’m not a sex symbol. I just want to entertain people,” says Mike in the released trailer.
“I don’t want to be styled. I want to sing, dance, I want to garden, I want a cat,” Claire responds. Then they rehearse Diamond’s songs at home: “So you’ll be lightning and I’ll be thunder,” says Claire. They perform in venues, receiving approval: “I can’t thank Neil because every thank you I receive belongs to you,” says Mike.
Song Sung Blue, the cast of the movie
Hugh Jackman worked on Deadpool & Wolverine, and recently in The Greatest Showman and The Prestige, and will be in The Death of Robin Hood. Kate Hudson acted in Glass Onion - Knives Out and Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon. The cast also includes Michael Imperioli, performer in episodes of The White Lotus and The Sopranos; Jim Belushi, recently seen in Fight Another Day and Wonder Wheel.
The direction is by Craig Brewer, and the screenplay is inspired by Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary, in turn based on the true story of the Sardina couple, who for eight years went around paying tribute to Neil Diamond, who then also gave his blessing to the endeavor.
