The Huntsman: Elizabeth Mitchell Stars in New Psychological Thriller
In Theaters and on Digital Starting February 6, 2026
The release of The Huntsman, scheduled for February 6, 2026, in theaters and February 10 on VOD platforms, marks director Kyle Kauwika Harris’s return to an analytical style of storytelling. The feature film adapts the literary work by Judith Sanders, distancing itself from the conventions of graphic horror to focus on a pure psychological thriller structure. The screenplay is penned by Steven Jon Whritner.
The involvement of Elizabeth Mitchell serves as one of the film’s primary production anchors. The actress, recognized for her consistent performances in genre productions such as Lost and The Expanse, portrays the wife of the prime suspect in a series of serial murders.
The cast is rounded out by Shawn Ashmore in the role of Max, a healthcare worker who chooses to provide home care for a patient in a vegetative state. The patient, played by Garret Dillahunt, is the individual suspected by police in the deaths of six women. The interaction between these characters, mediated by the constant presence of a detective played by Jessy Schram, structures a plot where truth is filtered through the subjective perception of the protagonists.
Filming took place in Oklahoma beginning in May 2024. The choice of locations addressed the technical requirement of creating an isolated and chromatically austere visual environment, essential for conveying the paranoid atmosphere that characterizes the relationship between the lead couple. The project is backed by Epic Pictures Group, Plymouth Rock Entertainment, and SafeHouse Films.
