Prime Video Brings Isabel Allende's Novel to the Screen

The House of the Spirits will debut on April 29, 2026. This is the first Spanish-language television adaptation of Isabel Allende's iconic novel, published in 1982.

The series, composed of eight episodes, tells a family saga spanning half a century of history. At the center of the narrative are three generations of women—Clara, Blanca, and Alba—in a conservative South American country marked by class struggle, political conflicts, and the presence of the magical.

The International Cast of the Series

Alfonso Herrera, known for Rebel Moon, plays Esteban Trueba, the family patriarch. The character of Clara del Valle is entrusted to Nicole Wallace (Our Fault) and Dolores Fonzi (Belén), who portray her at different stages of her life.

Fernanda Castillo (The Lord of the Skies) plays Férula, while Aline Kuppenheim (A Fantastic Woman) and Eduard Fernández (The Skin I Live In) play Nivea del Valle and Severo del Valle respectively. The role of Blanca is divided between Sara Becker (The Movie Teller) and Fernanda Urrejola (Cry Macho), with Rochi Hernández (30 Nights with my Ex) in the role of Alba. Rounding out the cast are Juan Pablo Raba (News of a Kidnapping) as Tío Marcos, Pablo Macaya (In Her Place) and Nicolás Contreras (Baby Bandito) in the role of Pedro Tercero.

The Production Between Hollywood and Chile

Isabel Allende is among the executive producers alongside Eva Longoria and Courtney Saladino. The showrunners are Francisca Alegría (The Cow Who Sang a Song Into the Future), Fernanda Urrejola and Andrés Wood (News of a Kidnapping).

The series is produced by FilmNation Entertainment, the production company that worked on Anora and Conclave, with the support of Fabula, Chilean producer winner of the Academy Award for The Eternal Memory and A Fantastic Woman.

When The House of the Spirits Comes Out on Prime Video

On March 26, 2026, Prime Video released the official trailer for the series. The schedule includes the release of the first three episodes on April 29, followed by new weekly episodes until the finale on May 13.

The Cast

Alfonso Herrera recently participated in Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, while Nicole Wallace appeared in Our Fault, sequel to the Spanish phenomenon My Fault. Dolores Fonzi played the lead role in Belén, while Eduard Fernández worked on various Spanish productions after the success of Almodóvar's The Skin I Live In. Fernanda Urrejola, in addition to being showrunner of the series, acted in Clint Eastwood's Cry Macho, and Nicolás Contreras was the protagonist of the Chilean series Baby Bandito for Netflix.
